I've had this product for approximately 12 months a year and it worked fine with my 5th gen ipod video and also with my iPhone 3GS.
There is a little background clicking and hissing which you get with any FM transmitter.
The clear scan works well but it would be nice if the unit remembered your last preset rather than resetting everytime you unplug it. It's only 2 button presses but is still frustrating.
The unit has now packed up, not completely as there seems to be a loose connection in the wire somewhere as is is constantly stopping my audio as if paused and intermittantly charges my ipods.
I've tried bending the cable this way and that to recitify but it seems it's had it.
As is usually the case with such things I no longer have the packaging and think the item is now out of warranty.
It's a shame as it worked well. I my try a 'gooseneck2 FM transmitter next but due to the placement of the cig lighter in my Peugeot 206 it may not fit.

The device is easy to setup and use and works very well on my iPhone 3G S. You simply let the unit scan for 3 suitable FM channels, takes just a very few seconds, put those into your radio presets and then tune in to hear you iPhone or iPod. Sound quality is fine and best when the iPhone audio is turned up high to reduce any possible background hiss. The unit has three preset buttons so if reception drops on one channel you can easily switch to a new one.
The only problem I have found so far - and there may well be a solution available - is that when a call comes in it is picked up and played both by the iTrip AutoPilot and by the bluetooth hands free system built into my Parrot radio. The result is that the call is played with a horrible feedback and echo effect. A quick workaround is just to unplug the iTrip AutoPilot when a call comes in or change to another radio channel, but it would be nice if there were some way to automate this. Unless you have a bluetooth radio with built in hands free then this will not be an issue for you.
In conclusion I would be happy to recommend this unit to anyone seeking a way of playing their iPhone/iPod music or SatNav over the car radio.
