5 out of 5 stars Impressive iPod Case   September 15, 2009

After I brought my new iPod classic I was desperate to find a case that would stop the inevitable scratches on the iPod and to protect it from being damaged. There are many other different types of cases you can now buy for your iPod but none of them appealed to me.

The silicon cases, whilst looking good and feeling comfortable offer no protection to the most fragile part of the iPod....the screen.

The leather cases, however offers superb all round protection but I did not want to be bothered by the flappy variety of the case nor be inconvenienced by the style where you had to remove the iPod from the case.

Ultimately I took a punt at this case and I am very glad I did as the case gives great protection for the iPod. The solid case offers protection for almost all the iPod apart from the wheel and the slots. Whilst I haven't tested it yet I am sure it would take a significantly powerful blow on the case for the iPod inside to get damaged.

The most impressive thing about the case is the aesthetics. The metallic case in my opinion improves the look of the front of the iPod and the two way mirror feature on the front is simple but very effective. For when the screen is not on the screen is not visible through the metallic cover but when turned on it appears as if by magic.

Overall, if you are looking for an iPod case that effectively protects the iPod without comprising the looks or the usability of it I would recommend this product.

Received this case in recent weeks and mighty glad I chose it to encase my 120GB Classic Ipod. The quality and fit are exceptional. I would definitely recommend this.

I spent a fair amount of time trying to work out which cover to get for my iPod, which is very difficult because you can't see most of the available products in any normal shots. You only get to see the companies' professional shots, and they don't give you a clear idea of the size etc.

I'm actually quite pleased with this case. It's certainly robust enough to actually do its job of protecting my iPod from pretty much any injury less than being run over by a car, and it looks reasonably swish. The back cover is black and rubbery, which makes it easy to grip, and the front cover is made of a chrome finish translucent material, so that you can't see the screen until you switch the iPod on, at which point the backlight shines through the chrome cover. You need to keep the brightness fairly high on your iPod to see it clearly, but I've not found that to be any major problem during normal useage. That said, I don't watch a lot of video on my iPod. I think it would still be fine for that in most conditions, but it can be a bit difficult to see the screen in extremely bright conditions (so those of you that are wanting to sit watching videos in Cornwall on the beach may struggle!).

The cover is shiny, which means it gets scratched itself after a little while, but it still looks decent and I guess that's what you're expecting, given that it's specifically designed to take knocks and bruises. It still fits in a normal docking station, contrary to one review I read, which is useful because although it's easy to get onto the iPod, it's not the type of cover that just slips off. You'd need to prize it off, which wouldn't be that difficult, but not the kind of thing you want to do every time you come home.

It does add a couple of millimetres in every direction to the iPod, which I haven't found to be much of a problem, but I could see this being quite offputting for some. To give you some idea, on my iPod Classic, the dimensions with the case fitted are approximately 10.5cm x 6.5cm x 1.5 cm.

So, I quite like it and it works for me, but if you absolutely cannot accommodate an extra millimetre or two in your pocket, or are intending to watch a lot of video in bright sunlight I would perhaps reconsider.
