really excellent piece of kit August 12, 2010 beau nydle (chertsey, surrey, uk) Having been given an estimate of £240 for a car radio with an mp3 input, I decided I could do better, for a lot less. As usual, I read some of the reviews, and this unit came up highly recommended. So I sent off for it. Oh boy, what a beautifully simple and effective piece of kit this is. More or less sets itself up. From unpacking to sitting in the car with a big silly grin was about 3 minutes. It really is simplicity itself. I'm 67, not the sharpest knife in the box, and the possessor of a box full of "plug and play" items that do neither. So I was a bit bothered about this gizmo. I needn't have worried. It's so easy I had to laugh. And it parks your ipod track when you switch it off, so that when you switch on again, it carries on where it left off. Great. If you're looking for a brilliant alternative to an in car mp3 player, you won't go wrong with this baby. Very highly recommended. And it doesn't flop about, as has been reported. It comes with more than enough accessories to prevent that. There's 8 different docking variations to fit any mp3. And different plug variations to suit most countries. Go on, press the "buy now" button, you won't be sorry.
Don't worry, just buy it. May 31, 2010 TG (Leeds UK) Just a quick word on this gadget as I am about to buy one for my Daughters first car. Bought this doo dah over a year ago now, fitted it in minutes, and I am seriously non techy, since then just enjoyed CD quality sound from my I pod without any problems. I'm the original mr angry when things don't work as you hope they will, but this is one of the best gadgets you can get. Just buy it with my blessing.
Complete rubbish April 27, 2010 S. Reid I bought this for a long road trip holiday, intending to listen to my iPod as I travelled around a far away country. Within 30 minutes, the cradle had snapped from the support arm, with the plastic shearing in the connection between the two. Due to the length of the trip, I was in no position to return it, so unfortunately had to buy a replacement.
Would not recommend this at all. Probably best sticking with something that plugs directly into the base of your iPod and a flexible cable for power supply.
Belkin - non-existent customer service March 15, 2010 Dr. Derek Wilkie (Manchester, England) We recently bought a Belkin Tunecast which was recalled for safety reasons. After over 2 months we have had no contact from Belkin, no replacement and no refund. You cannot find a contact phone number or email address anywhere on their website. This company clearly doesn't want to stay in touch with its customers!
Buy Belkin items if you like, but you are on your own if you need any customer support.
Not a good idea March 15, 2010 James Vargerson I bought this item hoping for a problem free easy to use piece of equipment and for the price I was willing to take a gamble.
The design is flawed, the arm makes it very difficult to keep it still, you can go round a round about and have it hit you in the knee.
Having it too low meant that I couldnt access my lower dashboard.
Sometimes it would just stop playing, so I'm driving and the last thing i want to do or even be encouraged to do is to take my eyes off the road to fix it, so ive had to pull over several times.
The item now will no longer work, the plug in connection has worn away and come off, so really people do yourselves a favour and spend a little bit more on something a little bit safer.
Peace
