1 out of 5 stars Hit and Miss   May 20, 2008

This is the second FM Transmitter I have tried, the previous one being a simple block running off ipod battery. That worked okay, but drained the battery quickly. Thankfully, the Kensington charges my ipod without a problem, it's just a pity that I can only gain crackle and inteferance when I try and play music through it ! One problem seems to lie in the RDS element - as my radio ends up simply retuning to another station!. Nevertheless, turn RDS off and I still can't get a consistent sound, which is problem two. Absolutely hopeless.

Not good. It basically didn't work so I am sending it back and waiting for a new one. My first Kensington product oops!

1 out of 5 stars Absolute Rubbish   March 10, 2008

Used it once and it fell to bits - absolute waste of money. If there was a zero star option I would have selected it.

1 out of 5 stars Changing Frequency too often   February 29, 2008

I have just bought this item after previously using a griffin road trip (which my husband has permanently borrowed). The amount of times I had to change frequeny on a very short journey was ridiculous. Agree with other reviewer the large jumps in frequency and lack of fine tuning don't help.

2 out of 5 stars Coud have been the perfect FM transmitter   January 26, 2008
Ed-Dog (Manchester)
Tried to like this product for a week before returning to Amazon.

Pros:
1. RDS feature works, songs display on RDS compatible Radio
2. 12v charger charges iPod, essential for long journeys
3. Physically well designed, looks nice, three presets easy to access
4. Fits very nicely onto the new stlye iPod nano

Cons:
1. Doesn't use the entire FM spectrum that normal radios use, won't go to the lowest frequencies, the car tuner will but this won't transmit them.
2. The fine tuning is poor. It takes quite large steps up in frequency, making it difficult to fine tune in a busy spectrum
3. The tuning controls are easy to accidentally touch when using the iPod
4. Couldn't tune in the car radio to pick up a strong enough signal to get a decent enough sound to listen too, sounds far worse than FM quality.

This device had so much going for it, if only they hadn't cut corners on the fine tuning and transmission range. I used this on a Renault Clio, the aerial is located on the roof towards the back so it's possible that it may work better on another car. That said, the inherent design flaws mean I'm considering the Griffin iTrip auto instead.
