Good product, only 2 real downsides that i can think of:
1) Runs down the batteries even when it is not actually plugged into an iPod.
2) Could do with an ON/OFF switch and/or battery charge indicator to solve the above problem.
It's a good product for long journeys none the less, and i reccommend buying it.

It's a good idea - simply it's 4AAA batteries with an iPod connector on the end which gives a good few extra hours battery life for podcasts, video & music. Lasted perfectly well through an 11 hour flight on my 30Gb iPod Classic plus the usual couple of hours hanging around time in airports either end.
Thing to remember is it works best when the iPod battery is already fully charged, it will NOT mean an iPod with an empty or mostly empty battery will suddely become full again or last for ages. This is set out clearly in the packaging / instructions but isn't mentioned in the ad here so might be something to consider before you buy it (although it's pretty obvious that you're looking to extend the existing full battery life not replace it with something else).
I've bought an iPhone 3GS recently and thought I'd test it out on that (since they have the same docking connector at the base) but it does NOT work with iPhone and says "this accessory is not designed for use with iPhone" on the screen, just so you know before you order one :-) Even though it says in the product description that this is for iPod and iPod Mini I saw other review tags with iPhone included so I thought I'd better mention it.
Other than that - 5 Star thoroughly recommended.
