Great Purchase... Get One November 28, 2007 B. Monk (UK) I bougth this item 3 days ago now, and like other amazon shoppers, i tend to view the reviews. Some of the reviews for this item were a little worrying, but i went ahead anyway, and i am very pleased i did. Firstly, it arrived very promptly, well packaged and brand new. The instructions are simple and within 10 mins i was up and running. There are two ' arms' to support this device, iwould suggest using just the one, it is plenty strong enough. The device sits perfectly in my Ford Focus, and remains in a firm position, even going round corners. The clarity and the volume are brilliant, and more than ample for drivers who like their music loud but not deafening. I would def recommend getting one, and i will be ordering one for my wife after i finish this review.
POOR SOUND November 5, 2007 Dr. J. Stout Easy to set up & works fine. Sound quality however poor : inferior to CD & FM car radio.I've never heard any other makes so can't compare but sound quality is a major issue.Dissapointing because ipods are good quality.
Good Piece of Kit - for some people October 12, 2007 Richard Kelly (Manchester, England) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
So you've got an iPod and want to listen to it in the car, what are your choices? 1. Get an fm transmitter that sits in your dock and drains power from device until it's flat. or 2. Get a cradle that is also an fr transmitter and a charger all in one simple package. It sounds like no contest and I have tried both versions! The first type is simple, but unless you can get it properly positioned in your car you will struggle and, of course, when your iPod is flat you cannot listen to it! I bought a RoadTrip as I quite often have to travel long distances as part of my job and I have an 80GB iPod. I don't need to worry about taking a charger with me. I don't have to worry about where I have placed my iTrip, as the cradle is quite large and I would struggle to lose it. It fits well in the cigarette lighter socket in my car (an Astra) and I get a good clear signal. I couldn't be happier than when I'm driving my car whilst using it. However when I drive my wifes car things aren't quite as good - the location of the socket isn't quite as convenient and the fit isn't quite as good so it moves if you go too fast around a corner, I also get a high pitched buzz during playback. It is really difficult to recommend this to everyone as I know that it is good in one car and bad in another. You really need to have a look at one in the flesh, so to speak, and think about whether it will fit properly in your car. Personally I much prefer it to my iTrip, but I do have reservations (despite the 4 stars for how it works in one of my cars).
great idea but totally useless August 8, 2007 S. Domoney (London UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
what a piece of junk!!.... the electronics all work perfectly, the charger charges and the radio tune-in to a set frequency sounds great and works well however... where this idea should have been abandoned at stage one of the design process is that trying to balance a great big ipod in a moving bumping car at the end of a naff plastic thing that loosly sits in your cigarette lighter does not work for longer than 10 seconds in my experience. Rather like trying to hold a broom level with one hand, its just not practical. The only vague compromise that could have been possible was hanging it upside down and balancing it in the dash pocket... but the arm only rotates 180 degrees. Amazing a product so bad can get to market, it clearly hadn't been roadtested. Maybe a lightweight ipod works better but I fail to see so with the lighter fitting as it is. Much better to have had a secure clip on somewhere and then fed into the lighter socket. The only feasible method of getting this to stay put long enough to keep the connection is with several miles of gaffer tape. Don't waste your money on this it is rubbish. If I hadn't already opened the wrapping/used the damn thing I would ask for my money back
Great, but watch out if your Cig Lighter is space tight July 20, 2007 N. R. Postlethwaite (Rugby, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great product, works really well. Despite some of the negative reviews it comes with an iPod Nano adapter as standard now and iFillLE radio adapter too. The only negative thing to say, is that due to how is is made - a solid arm (like a robot arm with joints) from your cigarette lighter, if your space is tight it won't fit. This is not obvious from the 'what you get' and spec's above. It won't fit properly in our Mazda 5, so it will unfortunatley have to go back. It would have been better with a bracket that fitted an air vent or stick on, or suction cup mount.
