The Griffin PowerPod iPod Auto Charger works with BOTH the original FireWire topped iPods and the new docking iPods. To use it with the original iPod, simply connect the Apple-supplied FireWire cable to your iPod and then to the charger module.

Griffin only ships the new version that will work for both Ipods, but it's not clear from Amazon's site here if they are shipping the docking attachment (New) version. (The picture is of the old original version that connects to the firewire port) This is certainly less expensive than the Belkin solution. It also allows you to listen to music and charge at the same time, or simply charge in standby mode. What's not to like! Rated 4 stars only because I had to choose one, as I have yet to use the product, but felt compelled to counter the point another reviewer made about it only being for the old IPod. I'm going to order and try!

Contrary to the previous reviewer, I have an "old" style iPod, and although the picture and the reviews show the old style connector, this product puchased from Vendors-direct is ONLY for the new style ipod.The lead is changable, but I did not want to puchase an addition lead at 15 nor did I want to keep disconnecting the original lead from my PC - the whole point of buying it was to have an additonal charger.

It's a car charger for your iPod. Simple really, but essential. Complete with firewire cable (about 1.2m), it means you can stick your ipod anywhere in the car, glove box or back seat or even the boot and still get power to the magic music machine that is iPod!
